Your child may need language therapy if they have difficulty with the use or understanding in any of the 5 domains of language: phonology (i.e., rules of speech sounds); morphology (i.e., rules of word structures); syntax (i.e., rules of sentence structure/grammar); semantics (i.e., vocabulary); and pragmatics (i.e., social interactions).
Your child may need speech therapy if they have difficulty with producing speech sounds; difficulty with their vocal quality (e.g., hoarseness, hyper- or hypo- nasal); and fluency.
Your child may need occupational therapy if they have a developmental delay; difficulty with motor skills; difficulty with movement, strength, and balance/coordination (gross motor skills); difficulty with grasp, manipulation, and strength in hands (fine motor skills); difficulty with visual processing/visual motor skills; difficulty with oral motor/oral sensory skills; learning challenges; difficulty with sensory processing; difficulty with social interaction skills; difficulty with play skills; and difficulty with attention and executive function skills.

Your child may benefit from physical therapy if they have a developmental delay; difficulty with gross motor skills like movement, strength, balance, and coordination; challenges with posture or core strength; difficulty with walking, running, or jumping; muscle tone issues (either low or high tone); difficulty with motor planning and body awareness; limited range of motion or flexibility; challenges with balance reactions and fall prevention; or orthopedic concerns that impact daily activities and mobility. Pediatric physical therapy can support your child in developing the skills needed for functional independence, mobility, and confidence in their movement.

The Beckman Oral Motor Protocol is an intervention that utilizes assisted movement and stretch reflexes to activate muscle contraction, build strength, and improve range of motion in the lips, jaw, tongue, and soft palate.
